Swimwear Under $50!

photo via pintrest

I absolutely HATE (yes i'm saying in all caps) how expensive swimsuits are! Let's face, you are paying for hardly any material just to cover what is needed, just like underwear and whatnot.. but I digress. Real talk, I am very ashamed of this, but over christmas break I actually ended in a little bit of debt from buying a super expensive swimsuit that I, at the time didn't have the funds for but still impulsively bought it anyway. The remainder of my winter break I was constantly having to mooch of off my friends food (sorry again guys), be as frugal and cheap as possible for the rest of break.. well at least until I got my next paycheck!

I have this love/hate relationship with swimsuits. In a way, I am such a hoarder of them, one just can't ever have to many! I'm such a sucker for anything locally made and has great quality, so if its gonna last me a good time (and if I have the money) I am willing to spend the extra penny. But I get it, sometimes you would just like something new to wear for vacation, spring break, etc! I found a good handful of adorable, trendy, swimsuits that wouldn't break your bank! Before I forget.. I also found this dupe for this Tory Burch swimsuit I have been seeing everywhere for under 20! If I could only convince my mom to get me a swimsuit for spring break....haha!

Prom/Formal 2018

It's that time of the year again... it's the time for prom dress shopping time! For some, this time is exciting, it's an excuse to try on a bunch of pretty dresses and have fun while shopping! I wish that was me,. This year, since its Kyle's senior prom, I will be going to prom for my third time around the block. Honestly, I am thankful that I had a few years to use as some what as a learning experience of what to wear for myself and my style rather than just looking like another girl my age in the same, somewhat stale, generic "prom" dress.

Kyle and I my junior year prom

I feel that I  have some what of PTSD (all jokes of course) from my junior year prom, not that I looked bad, but it really wasn't me. I felt that I was a contestant in Miss America, glitter galore with giant, super highlighted hair! I loved what I wore last year, I got my dress from Camilyn Beth, it was so sweet she even wrote me a little card! I am still trying to find and excuse to wear that dress again, it was so comfortable and light, made it easy for me to dance and move around all night! The dress I wore to my senior year prom is linked down below, with a bunch of other dress options that are far from the ordinary!

Helllooo 19!

I was beginning to become a bit unenthusiastic about turning 19. To me I thought  it's somewhat like being 13.... in a odd, strange way. Yes, legally at 19 you are legally "considered" an adult (I am learning what that means more and more each day) And 13 you are celebrating the years to the start of your teen years, but they both are kinda the ages that stuck in the middle, ya know? You are on the brink of being 20, while still being in between as a teenage.

While enjoying my "spa day" I was treated to on my birthday, I had a new even better realization. I have a feeling that this maybe this will be one of my greatest year yet! After all, it is my last year of being a teenage, last year with getting away with saying that, the last year of adolescence. My goals for myself is to do more of what I personally want for myself and to get out of my comfort zones of the ordinary. For instance, if i'm presented an opportunity to do anything.. anything presented my way, I should take hold of that! It is just the right time to do so.

Also, each year is a marking of a new, fresh stage of life, a new beginning! That is something so valuable, just like each day given to us, I needed to snap out of the toxic mindset of nineteen being just a "bleh" year.

Most importantly, this one sorta relates to one of my New Year's goal, is to tell everyone what is truly on my mind/ heart. I don't know maybe i'm overthinking this a bit to much, but it seems to me that in our society where everyone around us is so plugged into what people are saying about each other online, etc. it's easy for us to sugarcoat our thoughts and honest feelings to others/ subject matters. If something is on your mind, feel free and say it! If something is bothering you, speak up! If you are passionate about something, express it! Life is too short to go through life without expressing your individual thoughts!

Why It's Important to Develop Your Own Personal Style

I’ve had this idea running through my mind for some time now and it has almost been haunting me to write this post.  Hold on tight everyone, you are all in for a good read. I find it somewhat ironic that even though I consider myself an operator of a fashion & lifestyle blog, I’ve yet to write about the importance of cultivating your own personal style!  What sparked the idea of writing about the growth and development of my personal style has to be from the many blogger / influencer Instagram stories and feeds from over two years ago. It’s almost hard to believe that I created Fabulously Floridian two years ago (even though I don’t think I really became seriously invested with my blog until about a year ago, but hey.)

Looking back at the beginning stages of my blog, I am somewhat ashamed of what I saw from myself. What struck me, maybe not to you all, was that I almost saw myself as a bit of a hypocrite. Being authentic and original is something I thrive off of. One of my all time favorite quotes has to be: “There is only one you so why try to be someone you aren't?”  I saw this  raggedy, structured sense of writing and a style that was “obnoxiously preppy”.  It almost became like a second uniform to me, rather than a form of self expression. I was completely going against the “purpose” of starting my blog and created this facade that would gain a certain following.

I started Fabulously Floridian as a way to display my two favorite forms of self expression: my fashion style, as well as writing. I had to take a few steps back and reevaluate staying true to myself, as well as to the readers of my blog. I certainly was doing the opposite and it didn’t resonate well with me.  I’d seemed that as a beginning blogger, it was easy to get caught up in following the image of other bloggers instead of my own, which in my opinion, was completely flawed. I realized there is a huge difference between being inspired by a certain blogger/style, as opposed to trying to replicate it.

This post may seem like a bit of a rant, but definitely a necessary one. I find it difficult to  categorize someone's sense of style as just one word or adjective, because it’s almost a cultivation of what influences an individual. For example, I realized that from my strong ties of living near the coast, laid the foundation for my airy, breezy, light colored style and my love for my favorite icons such as Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn always draws me to the structured, feminine look. A combination of this  is what creates, my own style! A style that makes me confident, happy and excited to share to the blogging community.

Developing your own sense of personal style as an individual allows you to become confident with who you are, expressing your interests and passions others. Projecting who you are and where you draw your inspiration from what you wear, to me, is why developing your own personal style is essential to anyone, anywhere.

Valentines Day Gift Guide 2018

Happy February everyone!
I am so happy that it is finally February.. is it just me or did January feel as if it lasted over 500 days long? Glad that's over with! February has always been one of my favorite months, I might be biased because after all, it is my birthday month (shoutout to all the pisces!) Also, I have always been a sucker for Valentine's day.

I was walking though target the other day and memories started flowing through my mind when I saw those little paper Valentines you would pass out to everyone in your class.  Not gonna lie, I feel that we all really took for granted those days when we would have a whole day-long party for something like that, what simpler times!
